About Me

I was born and raised in South Africa in the Bushveld. Growing up close to Nature has shaped my core being. I am an unashamed fanatic!

My academic background is Law, but I was able to pursue my passion for painting when I moved to Toronto and attended Art School. It has changed my life.

For the last few years, I have been living in Western Canada. The Rocky Mountains are a gift. Being out in the wilderness allows me to re-charge and capture some of the beauty in a tangible way.

About My Work

My aim is to create soul-provoking works that draw the viewer in and make him/her want to explore it more.

All of Nature inspires me - both on a micro and macro level. There is beauty everywhere!

I work in four mediums primarily - oil, acrylic, watercolour and pastels.

In my abstract pieces, I like painting with oil on larger canvasses to accentuate the vivid colours. It makes for a striking scene against a bare wall. Wide open spaces, or small, micro organisms - they all reveal something magical.

The same goes for my love of painting interesting people.  An expression can speak volumes and it tells the viewer a story about the subject - a story without words.

My photos are an extension of the paintings. They are still memories of a moment captured, that will never again be quite as it was.

Art makes you pause. It takes you out of the ordinary, into a place where your soul can connect to deeper things and your imagination becomes alive.

Beauty surrounds us, we just have to remember to take notice of it.
